About Centre College

Centre College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in Danville, which is the county seat of Boyle County, located in the US state of Kentucky, having a population of approximately 15 500 inhabitants, estimated during the 2000 census.

Centre College was officially established in January, 1819, being founded by Presbyterian leaders, when it received its charter from the Kentucky Legislature. It currently offers its students a total of 27 majors and 28 minors, including double majors, self-designed majors, and dual-degree engineering programs with Columbia University, Vanderbilt University, University of Kentucky and Washington University (St. Louis).

Athletics

Centre's athletic teams are known as the Colonels and they compete in NCAA Division III, in 10 sports for men and 11 for women, which include swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, softball, basketball and track and field. Their distinctive colors are gold and white.
